for sororities
You have power in the relationships between your chapter and the fraternities you socialize with. Use it. Too many women have been harmed while the people around them stayed quiet or protected someone they knew. You do not have to keep planning mixers and showing up to parties while accepting the same excuses. Make the Cornell 50 Pledge a condition of hosting events together. Don’t book the next mixer. Cancel what’s already on the calendar until every active member has signed and the fraternity explains how it will follow through—with training, clear reporting options, and accountability. A signature alone cannot guarantee safety, but you can demand more than a promise that these are “good guys.” The responsibility for changing their behavior belongs to them.
