For workplaces

People should be able to do their jobs without being harassed—and report a problem without wondering whether it will cost them their career. But that depends on what happens when someone actually speaks up. Do colleagues back them up? Does leadership take it seriously? Or does everyone make excuses because the person responsible is a senior partner, a top performer, or someone the boss likes? Taking the C-50 Pledge means refusing to let someone’s position protect them from accountability. It means challenging degrading comments, reporting what you witness, and refusing to punish or isolate the person who raised the concern. Leaders should take the pledge first and show employees that speaking up will lead to action.

The C-50 Pledge for Workplaces

The way we treat people at work matters. So does what we let others get away with.

I pledge to:

  • Speak up about degrading comments, sexual jokes, bullying, and harassment. I will not excuse them as office humor.

  • Hold people accountable regardless of their title, seniority, relationships, or how much money they bring in.

  • Check in when I see a colleague being targeted and help them find support without taking over their decisions.

  • Report misconduct through appropriate workplace channels and tell the truth about what I witnessed.

  • Refuse to join in gossip, exclusion, or retaliation against someone who raises a concern.

  • Use any authority I have to make reporting clear, take concerns seriously, and follow through. I will not ask employees to accept behavior I would never accept for myself.

If someone comes to me, I will listen and take them seriously.

My employment will never be an excuse to look away.
